Dr Sushila Sawant Mendes teaches History in Govt College in Quepem. Her PhD is on the life of Luis Menezes Braganza, who was known as 'Tilak of Goa'. She has also authored a book on Menezes Braganza and writes regular columns in the media on Goan history. She was also actively involved in Goa's students' movement in '80s.
