Goa State Commission for Protection of Child Rights conduct Joint Stakeholders’s Meeting on Children in Contact with Railways

In an effort to bring coordination on addressing issues related to children in contact with railways, the Goa State Commission for Protection of Child Rights conducted a Joint Stakeholders Meeting at Conference Hall, KRCL Margao on 30th January 2023.

Stakeholders from railways, i.e. Station Master, TTE/TC, commercial and technical railway staff, Railway Protection Force (RPF), Government Railway Police (GRP) and secondary stakeholders, i.e. a coolie/porters, vendors at the station, cleaning staff, taxi, auto rickshaw and motorcycle pilots came together to discuss ways how to protect and provide care and support for children in contact with railways.

The stakeholders were briefed by Peter F. Borges, Chairperson, Goa State Commission for Protection of Child Rights about the support system in creating a protective environment for children at the railway station, a mechanism to safeguard children’s rights at the station premises, the procedure to be followed to provide care and support to a child found at the railway station and trains in the context of the standard operating system by the Railway Police Force.

The meeting was coordinated by Francis Lobo, Security Commissioner, Railway Police Force and had the presence of Roselle Solomon, Member, Child Welfare Committee, South Goa, Ana Fernandes, Coordinator, Konkan Railway Childline and other Childline teams operating in the state of Goa.
