Senior Journalists to Reveal History of Lok Sabha Polls

To Release Book on LS Polls by Sandesh Prabhudesai on 18 March

Four senior journalists of Goa will unfold the history of the 15 Lok Sabha elections held in Goa to date at a function to release a book on the history of Goa’s Lok Sabha elections.

Senior journalists Anil Pai, Gurudas Sawal, Prakash Kamat, and Julio D’Silva will release a book, “Double Engine: History of Goa Lok Sabha Elections”, by senior journalist Sandesh Prabhudesai, on Monday, 18 March 2024.

The book release will be followed by a panel discussion, during which the senior journalists and the writer will reveal the changing character of Lok Sabha elections in Goa and share their personal experiences.

The panel discussion will be moderated by young columnist and social activist Kuldeep Kamat.

This is Mr Prabhudesai’s second poll-related book after his bestseller “Ajeeb Goa’s Gajab Politics,” which focused on the history of the Politics of the Land over the last 7000 years.

The discussion would primarily focus on how the Lok Sabha polls have shifted their focus from regional politics to a national perspective, why some political parties became ineffective, how and why new parties emerged in the Goa Lok Sabha polls, and the changing scenario of one-time minority-dominated politics in South Goa.

The book also contains complete data on the 15 Lok Sabha elections held in Goa since 1963 and data analysis with tables and graphs analysing the poll scenario.

The function will be held on Monday, 18 March, at 4 p.m., at Maqueniz Palace, near INOX Cinema in Panaji.

The discussion will also include interaction with the audience.
