This English book, published by Qurate Publishers, spans more than 300 pages and provides a detailed account of the 64-day movement in which common people across Goa took to the streets. These spontaneous protests occurred without any central leadership or formal organisation, particularly in the Christian-dominated villages of the Old Conquests and even in Bombay. Many of the local leaders involved were young, aged between 14 and 30, similar to today’s Gen Z.

The book also explores how Dr Rammanohar Lohia’s civil liberties movement was transformed into a mass uprising by various sections of Goan society. It emphasises the economic reasons behind this mass fury and its political quest for independence from the fascist colonial regime of Salazar-led Portugal. Additionally, it examines the impact of this revolutionary movement both nationally and internationally, as well as the disagreements among local leaders that affected its success.
