Noted environmental activist Claude Alvares, the Late cardiologist Dr Manjunath Desai, Late poet Ashok Naik Tuenkar and Late journalist Anant Salkar will be felicitated by the Borim Development Trust on the occasion of the annual, Borim Utsav 2023.
Announcing this in a media release issued in Goa on Thursday, Vasant Parwar, managing trustee, Borim Development Trust said that the Borim Utsav 2023 will be held on Sunday 12 February 2023, between 4 and 7 pm at the SFX Church Hall, Betki, Borim.
Shri Daulat Hawaldar (IAS) will be the president of the function and Prof BK Mishra, director—of IIT Goa will be the chief guest.
The function besides showcasing the developmental work undertaken by the Borim Development Trust will also throw the spotlight on the creative talent of the Borim village. Since 2010, World Borikar Convention (now Borim Development Trust) has instituted Borim Awards in honour of distinguished Borikars.
The “Borim Dhanwantari Bhushan Award” instituted in memory of the Late Major Dr Mablu Dotu Borcar will be conferred on the Late Dr Manjunath Desai, eminent cardiologist of GMC, Goa
The “Smt. Rukminibai Borkar Smruti Samaj Seva Puraskar” will be granted to Shri Claude Alvares, renowned environmental activist and founder, of the Goa Foundation.
Likewise, the “Kavi Bakibab Borkar Smruti Puraskar” will be conferred on Late Shri Ashok Naik Tuenkar, a renowned poet.
The “Laxmidas Borkar Smruti Patrakarita Puraskar” award will be conferred on Late Shri Anant Salkar, the eminent journalist.
