The Anjuna police team, under the supervision of the SDPO of Mapusa Jivba Dalvi, recently arrested 18 people who were allegedly involved in multiple mobile thefts. During the arrest, 29 high-end mobile phones and 3 bikes were recovered. The members of the gang are from Mumbai and had been staying in a hotel in Baga for the past three days. It is estimated that the stolen phones were worth around 10–15 lakhs.
According to the police, the gang operates by having one person distract the victim while the other person steals the phone. The investigation is still ongoing. The police are taking the New Year’s season very seriously and all personnel including senior officers have been deployed to the field to ensure that it is a peaceful and wonderful time.
