#goanewsEdiTweeT: MATTER OF PRIDE FOR GOA

The appointment of Rajendra Arlekar as a Governor of Bihar, one of the biggest states of India, from the small state of Himachal Pradesh, is certainly a moment of pride for all Goans, irrespective of their political affiliations.

It is as big a pride as appointing Manohar Parrikar as India’s Defence Minister, Eduardo Faleiro as External Affairs Minister,  Justice (Retd) Ferdino Rebello as the Chief Justice of Allahabad High Court or Ligia Noronha as Asst. Secretary of UNEP.

It’s obvious that in the BJP rule, RSS supporters would be chosen as Governors, but certainly can’t be the only criteria. Equally important is the administrative capacity, diplomatic skills, thorough knowledge of constitutional responsibilities & composed attitude of a person.

A matter of pride for all of us that a small state like Goa is creating such personalities who can serve society at national and even international levels. Certainly a deserving post for a person like Mr Arlekar, who has come up through hard work from among the masses as an activist, who fearlessly fought the Emergency!
